Lisbon – Getting to know the city of seven hills

I have lived and worked in Lisbon over one year now. When I moved I had never visited Lisbon before. So all the views and sights and tourist attractions were new to me. There is so much to see in Lisbon. Here are beautiful, historical buildings, but also modern architecture. Here are squares and streets full of people and life, and here are quieter streets and areas, where you feel you have been transferred to another era.

I have been a tourist in my own city. Now I have visited most of the top sightseeings and the list of places has shortened. I wonder when everything starts to look so familiar that I don’t have to take photos all the time when wandering around.

Like in every relationship, also in this there are many phases. We will see how this relationship develops in the future… But at least now there is still a lot to see and study.

I arrived at Lisbon airport on October 8, 2022. A guy from TP Housing came to pick me up and drove me to Amadora, where I had my accommodation. It was a nice studio apartment in a brand new house, but unfortunately the electricity was in the first night not functioning! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amadora

Later in Amadora were all kind of problems with the people from the neighbouring house. They were selling drugs from the first floor window and making noise on purpose during nights. There was also quite a walk to the metro station. All kind of difficulties appeared, but in the beginning they didn’t bother so much. After shooting (!) in the neighbourhood TP arranged a new accommodation for me in Carnide, an area on the north side of the Colombo shopping center. Carnide, it was many metro stations closer to the city center! https://www.colombo.pt/en/

I lived there with two young colleagues, and the other didn’t unfortunately obey the rules, but smoked in the kitchen. There was ash on the floor and the stinking ashtray was standing on the washing machine. I was the snitcher, and soon two TP Housing people visited us. However, it was not the smoker who had to leave, but me! So in May 2023 I moved to the upstairs of Residencia de Sao Domingos There are not so many nuns anymore, so the church has rented out the highest floor to TP.

To be continued….

Lissabonissa uusia tuulia – Maa on vaihtunut, ehkä kielikin

Instagram-tili @liisainlisbon on käytössä (englanninkielinen).

Läheisessä Colombo-kauppakeskuksessa https://www.colombo.pt on muitakin entuudestaan tuttuja brändejä.

Palataan asiaan ensi vuonna.

Hyvää Uutta Vuotta 2024!

Terv. Liisa
